Cleveland, OH – July 31, 2025 – Lazurite®, a medical device and technology company, today announced that Michael S. Schwartz, MD, MBA, a board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in arthroscopic and reconstructive surgery of the knee and shoulder, has joined its Medical Advisory Board. Dr. Schwartz is a practicing surgeon at OrthoTexas.

Dr. Schwartz has served as a past chief of the Department of Orthopedics at The Medical Center of Plano, and currently is a member of the Board of Directors at Baylor Scott &White Medical Center Frisco. He has been a clinical preceptor of the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center’s Physician Assistant Program, UTMB at Galveston Physician Assistant Program and Franklin Pierce University Physician Assistant Program.  Dr. Schwartz is the team physician for the Allen Americans professional hockey team.  He joins Lazurite’s advisory board at a time of growing adoption of the company’s ArthroFree® Wireless Surgical Camera System—the first FDA-cleared wireless camera for minimally invasive surgery.

“We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Schwartz to the Lazurite Medical Advisory Board,” said Mark Froimson, MD, MBA, chair of the Lazurite board. “He brings a deep understanding of the orthopedic surgical environment, a commitment to improving surgical outcomes, and a practical appreciation for innovation that simplifies and streamlines the OR. His insights will be instrumental as we expand the ArthroFree platform and explore new clinical applications.”

Dr. Schwartz sees wireless technology as a natural evolution in surgical instrumentation. “ArthroFree eliminates cords without sacrificing image quality or control,” he said. “It’s a tool that enhances freedom of movement in the OR, reduces clutter and tripping hazards, and ultimately helps create a safer, more efficient surgical environment. I’m excited to contribute to Lazurite’s mission and help bring this technology to more orthopedic surgeons and their patients.”

Dr. Schwartz received his medical degree from The State University of New York at Buffalo School of Medicine, and performed his orthopedic surgery residency at New York Medical College and The State University of New York at Stony Brook. He completed a fellowship in arthroscopy and sports medicine at Associated Orthopedics and Sports Medicine. In 2011, he received his Master in Business Administration from Texas Tech University. He has been consistently recognized as a “Super Doctor” by Texas Monthly and a“Best Doctor” by D Magazine.

The ArthroFree® System is designed to meet the growing demand for wireless surgical tools that improve OR ergonomics, eliminate cable-related hazards, and increase procedural efficiency. With the addition of Dr. Schwartz, Lazurite continues to deepen its collaboration with clinical leaders across a range of specialties in minimally invasive surgery.
